Ikeja Electric Slashes Tariff for Band A Customers

FG: N3.2 Trillion Subsidy Needed to Roll Back Electricity Tariff Hike

Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) has announced the downward review of its tariff for Band A customers from N225/kWh to N206/kWh.

It disclosed this in a statement signed by its management on Monday. The statement read; “Please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kwh to N206.80/kwh effective 6th May 2024 with guaranteed availability of 20-24hrs supply daily. The tariff for Bands B, C, D, and E remains unchanged.

On April 3, the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approved an increase in electricity tariff for customers under the Band A classification. The commission said customers under the category, who receive 20 hours of electricity supply daily, would begin to pay N225 per kilowatt (kW) from April 3 — up from N66.

The sudden increment has been criticised by some members of Parliament and other stakeholders who have asked the NERC to step down the implementation of the new tariff regime.
