Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha, was celebrated across Africa on June 16, marking one of the most important Islamic holidays.
This festival, commemorating the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God, saw vibrant and diverse celebrations throughout the continent. From the bustling cities of Lagos and Cairo to the serene villages of Mali and counties in Kenya, communities came together in prayer, feasting, and the traditional act of animal sacrifice.
