Thousands of Nigerians defied all odds and converged at various locations across the country, for the Obi-Datti rally in support of the Labour party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
In defiance to the Police directive to avoid the Lekki toll gate, many marched at the Lekki-Epe Expressway, and converged chanting pro-democracy slogans and ‘Obi! Obidient!’
The rallies held simultaneously in other parts of Lagos, like Festac town, Surulere and the National Stadium. Kaduna, Delta, Akwa Ibom also had similar rallies.
A supporter boasted:
“The police presence at Lekki did not stop youths from gathering. Very proud of this generation. If Lekki is your route join them!”
The Lagos State Police Command on Friday issued a directive against organising any form of rallies at the Lekki Toll gate, referencing the subsisting court order that prohibited it.
Meanwhile, operatives of the State Security Services have arrested Joseph Onuorah upon his arrival in Lagos, he returned from France for the rally.
Worthy of note are the Nigerians who joined from places like London, chanting at the Trafalgar Square where Nigerian music star Wierd MC joined to endorse the Peter Obi/Yusuf Datti team.
