The 17th Biennial Conference of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) was held in Cape Town, South Africa, bringing together female judges, legal experts, and human rights advocates from around the world.
The conference, themed “Resilience: Women in Leadership to End Gender-Based Violence & Femicide,” focused on the role of women in promoting justice, equality, and the rule of law in a rapidly changing world. Participants discussed pressing issues such as gender-based violence, judicial independence, and the importance of women’s representation in the judiciary.
The event, attended by around 900 judges, magistrates, legal professionals and policymakers from across the world, addresses the global scourge of gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide through judicial leadership and activism.
