Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, was honoured as Woman of the Year at the Independent Awards 2024, held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Expo Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Born on September 21, 1960, Oluremi Tinubu has been a significant figure in Nigerian politics. She served as the First Lady of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 during her husband Bola Tinubu’s tenure as governor.
Subsequently, she represented Lagos Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian National Assembly from 2011 to 2023, becoming the first woman to be elected to the Nigerian Senate for three consecutive terms.
In 2023, she assumed the role of First Lady of Nigeria following her husband’s inauguration as President.
