Kidnappers in Ethiopia have freed six Indian citizens who had been held captive for ransom.

The Indians and their interpreters were being kept in a small village 30 miles outside of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital.

The six Indian citizens were among the 27 persons taken from a cement factory’s mining site in early March.

According to local media, the kidnappers freed 18 people on March 10. Armed guys kidnapped the six Indians and their three translators and demanded a ransom of £370,000.

The kidnapping has ended, according to Girma Wayessa, a local administrator in the area.

He stated that he was collaborating with the community and security agencies to address the rising frequency of such instances in the area.

The Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), an armed rebel group, is frequently blamed by the Ethiopian government for these attacks. The OLA, on the other hand, frequently denies carrying out such operations.
