Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced Wednesday that his country is prepared to provide temporary refuge for Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Acknowledging the significant displacement of Gaza residents due to renewed Israeli military operations, Prabowo stated Indonesia’s readiness to receive and transport wounded Palestinians.
“We are ready to receive wounded victims,” he said, outlining plans to send planes to evacuate an estimated 1,000 individuals in the initial phase, prioritising the wounded and orphaned children.
He emphasised that this would be a temporary arrangement, with the victims returning to Gaza once it is safe.

Prabowo has directed his Foreign Minister to collaborate with Palestinian officials and regional stakeholders to facilitate the evacuation process.
Indonesia, with its large Muslim population, has consistently advocated for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
During his upcoming Middle East tour, Prabowo is also scheduled to address the Turkish Parliament, a rare honour, highlighting the strong relationship between Indonesia and Turkey, whose President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause.
