The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday announced that the continuous voters registration CVR will recommence on Monday 28th June 2021.
This was made known by the INEC chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, in a press conference held at the press briefing held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The electoral umpire has set aside a Direct Data Capture Machine, and would introduce a new device being developed by its in-house software engineers. The new device called “INEC Voter Enrolment Device (IVED)” will run on the android operation system.
“In consideration of these challenges and the measures we have taken to overcome them, the Commission is now in a position to announce Monday 28th June 2021 as the date for the recommencement of the CVR exercise nationwide”- Chairman,INEC
The decision is informed by INEC’s desire to provide citizens with wider access to registration centres to enable improved participation in the on-going CVR exercise ahead of the 2023 general election.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu further disclosed that the electoral umpire has set aside the Direct Data Capture Machine, and would introduce a new device being developed by its in-house software engineers.
