At least thirty individuals travelling in two commercial vehicles were reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Nasarawa-Keffi road in Nasarawa state.
The assailant ventured into the bush with the kidnapped victims. Families of two captives have so far been contacted by the abductors, with demands for N10 million ransom per victim.
The abduction took place on Friday night, within the jurisdiction of Keffi and Karu local governments.
While one vehicle’s driver managed to escape, a pregnant woman was assaulted and abandoned, alongside an elderly stroke victim, who slowed down the kidnappers’ progress.
The driver who fled reported the incident to the Uke Division of the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police.
The whereabouts of some victims, including a second-year student at the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, remain unknown despite efforts by law enforcement, including the military.
Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP Ranham Nansel, confirmed an attack on an 18-seater bus along the Nasarawa-Keffi road.
A relation of one of the victims disclosed that efforts among security agencies led to the rescue of three individuals and the retrieval of the vehicle, and authorities are actively pursuing the perpetrators to secure the release of the abductees.
