Inter Milan Clinch 20th Serie A Title with Tense Victory over AC Milan

Inter Milan secured their 20th Serie A title with a hard-fought 2-1 win against AC Milan on Monday, effectively sealing their top spot in the league standings.

Goals from Francesco Acerbi and Marcus Thuram in each half propelled Inter Milan to victory, while Fikayo Tomori’s late goal for AC Milan narrowed the lead but wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

The match was not without drama, as three red cards were shown in stoppage time, reducing AC Milan to nine men. Theo Hernandez, Davide Calabria from Milan and Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan were all sent off as tensions escalated on the pitch.

With this win, Inter Milan maintains a commanding 17-point lead over second-placed Milan, with only five matches left in the season.

The atmosphere at San Siro was electric, with fans from both sides filling the stadium. Inter Milan supporters proudly displayed two stars, symbolising their 20th Scudetto, sending a clear message to their rivals: ‘Our destiny, your nightmare.’

The intensity of the match was evident from the start, with early clashes and heated exchanges following a challenge on Inter’s Nicolo Barella. Despite the aggressive start, no players were booked, and the game continued.

Inter Milan took the lead in the 18th minute, sparking celebrations among their fans. Benjamin Pavard’s corner found an unmarked Acerbi, who headed it home comfortably.

Thuram extended Inter’s lead early in the second half, firing a low shot from outside the box into the bottom-left corner, leaving Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer rooted to the spot.

Milan managed to pull one back in the 80th minute when Tomori capitalised on a rebound off the post, heading the ball into the net.

The match ended in chaos with several altercations between players. Dumfries and Hernandez were shown red cards for their involvement in the initial scuffle, and Calabria received his marching orders for striking Inter’s Davide Frattesi, rounding off a tumultuous ending to a crucial match in Serie A.
