President Mnangagwa Arrives Maputo for Three-Day Visit (News Central TV)

President of Zimbabwe, Emerson Mnangagwa arrived Maputo, Mozambique, today for a three-day state visit.

Mnangagwa was received by Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon Verónica Macamo Dlhovo and Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Cde Victor Matemadanda.

He is accompanied by a high-powered delegation, among them are the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ambassador Frederick Shava, Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona. They seek to ratify a number of Memoranda of Understanding to deepen ties between the two countries.

Others in the President’s delegation are Energy and Power Development Minister Soda Zhemu, Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza as well as Deputy Chief Secretary in charge of Presidential Communications in the Office of the President and Cabinet George Charamba.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ambassador James Manzou said the agenda of the visit is to upgrade relations between the two countries to a Bi-National Commission (BNC).

“Previously, relations have been at the level of the Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation, which was headed at ministerial level, but when the two Presidents met recently in Beira, they agreed to broaden the relations to the BNC.”

Ambassador Manzou explained that relations between Harare and Maputo continue to deepen due to their common view on issues of peace, regional security, economic development, as well as regional and continental integration.
