According to sources, Simon Ekpa, the factional leader of the separatist group Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Nigeria, has reportedly been arrested by Interpol.
According to a Finland news outlet HS, he was apprehended at the international airport in Finland while attempting to travel to Israel.
Ekpa, based in Finland and claims to be a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), had been the subject of a petition for his arrest signed by thousands of Nigerians.

The petition followed a five-day sit-at-home order issued by Ekpa that disrupted activities in southeastern Nigeria.
The petitioners had called on the Finnish government, the Nigerian government and the European Union to arrest Ekpa, who they claimed was behind the disruptive orders affecting the region.
