A planned sixth round of nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington, scheduled for this weekend, has been cancelled.

This announcement came from mediator Oman on Saturday, following recent waves of Israeli attacks on Iran.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi confirmed the cancellation in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “The Iran-US talks scheduled to be held in Muscat this Sunday will not now take place.”

Despite the setback, Albusaidi emphasised that “diplomacy and dialogue remain the only pathway to lasting peace.”

The cancellation underscores the heightened tensions in the region after Israel’s recent strikes on Iranian facilities and subsequent Iranian retaliation.
