Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Rapporteur for Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories, has declared that Israel persists in violating international law, with ongoing acts of ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and Jerusalem since 1967.
Albanese, as reported by the Palestinian Information Centre, emphasised the unprecedented famine in Gaza and stressed the urgency of preventing genocide in the region. She warned that delaying aid and ceasefire measures would only escalate casualties in Gaza.
In defiance of the recent ruling by the International Court of Justice, which Israel allegedly ignores, Albanese accused Israel of perpetuating civilian casualties in Gaza daily. She urged countries worldwide to pressure Israel by suspending mutual commercial transactions.
Expressing dismay at attacks on the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) by ICJ member states, Albanese highlighted the international community’s potential to halt Israeli occupation forces’ ongoing massacres in Gaza.
According to local authorities and international bodies, Israel’s aggression has resulted in the deaths of 27,708 Palestinians and injuries to 67,147 others in Gaza alone. Additionally, approximately 1.9 million people, or 85% of the Strip’s population, have been forcibly displaced.
