Israeli sources have confirmed to AFP that the scheduled release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners under the Gaza truce deal has been postponed, pending a decision by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
According to an Israeli official, Netanyahu is set to hold a security consultation on Saturday evening to determine the next steps regarding the ceasefire agreement.

“Regarding the delay in the release of the terrorists, once the security consultation concludes, a decision will be made regarding the next steps,” a second Israeli source stated.
The delay comes despite the earlier release of six Israeli hostages from Gaza on Saturday, as part of the ongoing truce negotiations between Israel and Palestinian factions.
Further decisions on the prisoner release are expected following Netanyahu’s high-level security discussions.
