Israel to Put Dozens of Soldiers on Trial for Refusing Gaza Redeployment

The Israeli military is preparing to put dozens of soldiers on trial for refusing to return to Gaza, a move that reflects growing dissent within the ranks over the ongoing conflict. According to the Israeli public broadcaster KAN, at least 20 soldiers have recently declined to participate in operations in Gaza, where Israeli forces are engaged in intense combat with Hamas.

Among these soldiers, 10 have received formal warnings from the military, indicating that they could face legal action if they continue to refuse deployment. Families of some soldiers have expressed concern, stating that their relatives are being forced into dangerous ground maneuvers in Gaza or risk imprisonment. Some soldiers have reportedly offered to serve elsewhere, away from the besieged territory.

This wave of dissent comes as more soldiers question the viability of the military’s campaign in Gaza, with some citing the ongoing war crimes and human rights violations committed by Israeli forces, while others doubt the effectiveness of the mission against Hamas. The situation highlights the growing strain on Israeli forces and the increasing resistance within their ranks.
