Bombardments from Israeli forces have killed 45 Palestinians following a close-quarter combat with Hamas, Reuters reported.
The Red Cross said that its Gaza office was destroyed when “heavy calibre projectiles” fired by the Israeli military landed in Mawasi near Rafah on Friday afternoon, killing at least 25 people living in tents around the compound and wounding 50.
“This incident caused a mass casualty influx at the nearby Red Cross Field Hospital, with the hospital receiving 22 killed and 45 injured, with reports of additional casualties.”
“The strike damaged the structure of the ICRC office, which is surrounded by hundreds of displaced civilians living in tents, including many of our Palestinian colleagues,” the ICRC said.
It stated that all parties are obligated to take measures to prevent harm to civilians and humanitarian facilities.
The Israeli military says it will investigate the incident.
Over 37,000 people have been killed in Gaza following Israeli’s military campaign following attacks by Hamas last October killing hundreds and taking many hostages.
Hamas-run health ministry says the majority of those killed in Gaza have been mostly children, women and elderly people
