The Israeli government has approved a ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressing gratitude to US President Joe Biden for his role in brokering the agreement.
Netanyahu’s office confirmed that 10 ministers voted in favour of the ceasefire, with only one opposing the decision.
During a call with Biden, Netanyahu conveyed his appreciation for the US president’s efforts and noted, “Israel will maintain its freedom of action in enforcing it.”
The truce comes as ongoing tensions and aims to de-escalate hostilities along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon.
