Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu successfully had prostate removal surgery on Sunday and is reported to be in stable condition, according to the treating hospital.
The operation occurred amidst the ongoing conflict with Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, more than 14 months following a major assault by Palestinian militants on Israel on October 7 of the previous year.
“The prime minister has awakened from anesthetic and is doing well. He has been moved to the recovery unit and will be monitored over the next few days,” said the Hadassah Medical Centre in a release.
Netanyahu’s office announced on Saturday that he had been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection due to a benign enlargement of the prostate.
In March, Netanyahu had hernia surgery, and in July of last year, medical professionals inserted a pacemaker after a health scare.
