In separate attacks, members of the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, have killed three internally displaced people, IDPs, and injured 13, including eight soldiers, in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.
It should be recalled that on Tuesday ISWAP fired RPGs that injured some service men and civilians during an operation at Talala enclaves.
Four loggers who lived at the Lowcost camp were said to have been out searching for fire yesterday when the terrorists opened fire on them, killing three people and injuring others who managed to flee.
“Four of them (IDPs) went to fetch firewood this morning but unfortunately one person returned with bullet wounds. We recovered three dead bodies from the pool, they were shot in the heads and they have been buried according to Islamic rights,” a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) said.
According to a security source, forces killed an unknown number of ISWAP fighters in another strike.
At least 12 persons, including eight troops, were hurt during the incident on Tuesday at the ISWAP Talala enclaves.
According to a security source, a military chopper arrived in Damboa early yesterday to transport the injured soldiers to Maiduguri for medical attention.
Additionally, a vigilante group participant who took part in the operation told newsmen that the casualty was caused by ISWAP militants firing RPGs in the direction of the troops.
