Popular Nigerian singer, Iyanya was arraigned before Justice Mobolanle Okikiolu-Ighile of Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, on charges of alleged car theft.
It is reported that the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) filed a one-count charge against marked LD/9024c/2019, against the singer on March 15, 2019, for stealing a car.
Iyana showed up at the court on Tuesday after the judge threatened to invoke the power of the court since the music star refused to show up for previous arraignments.
The case has been adjourned six times as a result of the singer’s failure to appear before the court despite being served with the charge and hearing notice.
At the court, Iyana pleaded not guilty to the charge that he dishonestly converted to his use or of another person, a Black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) which is said to belong to the Temple Management Company Ltd.
After a brief bail hearing, Iyanya was released to his counsel and the case was adjourned till February 27 for ruling on Iyanya’s bail application and commencement of trial.
