Nigeria’s Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued guidelines for candidates who participated in the recently concluded 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), urging them to adhere strictly to the specified method for result checking.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Public Communication Advisor of the Board, emphasised in a statement that candidates should access their scores by sending “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the phone number utilised during the registration process. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the SIM card is not linked to any data bundle.
“This method is different from what was obtainable last year, as the result cannot be found on the board’s website,” he clarified.
Dr. Benjamin cautioned the public to exercise caution regarding any individual presenting a printed result slip, as the official results are not provided in hard copy format.
Furthermore, he emphasised that candidates need not visit cybercafés or engage with third-party entities to check their results.
According to Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of the examination body, a total of 8,401 candidates, constituting 0.5%, attained scores of 300 and above, while 77,070 candidates, representing 4.2%, achieved scores of 250 and higher.
