The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has scheduled its 2023 policy meeting on admission into tertiary institutions for the 24th of June.

In a weekly bulletin released by Dr. Benjamin Fabian, the spokesperson for JAMB, it was announced that the meeting will be held at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) in Abuja. The primary agenda of the meeting is to discuss the acceptable minimum admissible score for all admissions in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

“Only two representatives each from respective tertiary institutions, comprising the Head of the Institution and one official of the institution, who shall be nominated by the Head, will be welcomed.

“Other critical issues slated for discussion at the Policy Meeting aside from issues emanating from the presentation of the Registrar, JAMB, on the just-concluded UTME are other issues of national importance, particularly as they concern the education sector” the bulletin read.

During the policy meeting, stakeholders will address various crucial matters, including the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the sale of Direct Entry (DE) forms. Additionally, other important national issues pertaining to the education sector will be discussed.

The policy meeting aims to determine policy directions for the nation’s tertiary institutions, establish admission guidelines, analyse application statistics and candidates’ performance, and evaluate the 2023 Admission exercise.

Moreover, one of the key decisions to be made during the meeting is the establishment of an acceptable minimum admissible score for all admissions in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
