Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, widely known as Jandor, has officially quit the party, blaming internal betrayal, indiscipline, and anti-party activities.
Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Jandor said the decision wasn’t made lightly, explaining that he took time to reflect and consult with his family, political allies, and supporters before calling it quits. He said he had hoped for a united party, but instead, he found himself fighting opposition from within as much as from outside.
Looking back on his 2023 governorship campaign, he recalled how his biggest hurdles came from his own party. He said some PDP leaders saw him as a threat rather than a candidate to rally behind.

Jandor didn’t hold back in naming those he believed undermined him, accusing PDP Board of Trustees member Chief Olabode George of backing another candidate and state chairman Philip Aivoji of misleading voters with talk of a non-existent alliance. He also pointed to Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat’s claims that PDP members secretly worked against their own party’s candidate, calling it proof of deep-rooted betrayal.
What frustrated him most, he said, was that despite all this, the party did nothing to punish those involved. Instead, Chief Olabode George was rewarded with a top role in the PDP’s Disciplinary Committee—something Jandor called an insult to loyal members.
He said he could no longer stay in a party that rewards disloyalty and sidelines those who genuinely work for its success.
While he didn’t reveal his next political move, he assured his supporters that he wasn’t stepping away from politics.
