Japanese actor Ryo Yoshizawa has been removed as the face of Asahi Breweries’ low-alcohol beer brand following an incident involving intoxication and an unintentional break-in at his neighbour’s apartment.
Yoshizawa, known for his “national treasure-class handsomeness,” was featured in ads for Asahi’s 3.5% Super Dry Dry Crystal beer. However, after consuming a stronger drink on 30 December, the 30-year-old reportedly entered a neighbour’s apartment by mistake, seeking to use the bathroom.
Asahi spokesperson Shiori Shimizu confirmed the termination of Yoshizawa’s contract, citing his actions as “unacceptable” for an alcohol brand representative.
The actor has apologised to his neighbour and moved out of his apartment, according to his talent agency, Amuse.
