Joint Task Force Eliminates Terrorist Enclaves in Northern Nigeria

Joint Task Force Eliminates Terrorist Enclaves in Zamfara and Sokoto

On the 15th of December 2023, members of the Joint Task Force, North West Operation Hadarin Jadi, took decisive action by eradicating terrorist enclaves, eliminating numerous threats, and seizing arms and ammunition in both Zamfara and Sokoto states.

The spokesperson for the troops, Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, relayed these developments in a press release distributed to the media on Thursday.

Yahaya emphasised that the troops have escalated their campaign against the terrorists to safeguard lives and property during the festive season.

“Today, on December 14, 2023, OPHD troops executed a clearance operation within Dada, Rukudawa, and Dumburum villages in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State,” reported Yahaya.

In the course of the operation, a confrontation unfolded between the troops and the marauding terrorists. The superior firepower of the troops compelled the terrorists to retreat, leaving one neutralised with gunshot wounds.

Moreover, the troops pressed forward aggressively, dismantling hideouts of notorious terrorist leaders, Gwaska Dan Karami and Dangote, who abandoned their positions and scattered in disarray.

Yahaya affirmed that in the subsequent mop-up, the troops recovered two guns, two motorcycles, various sets of military camouflage uniforms, communication devices, and ammunition.

In a separate operation, Yahaya disclosed that the combined OPHD troops in Sokoto State, during a clearance mission, neutralised four terrorists in Masasa village.

He asserted that multiple terrorists managed to escape with gunshot wounds, while the troops successfully seized one AK-47 rifle, two Tecno phones, and N282,050 in cash.

The decisive actions of the Joint Task Force underscore their commitment to enhancing security and ensuring a safer environment during the festive period.
