JUST IN: Lagos Market Shut Down Over Traders’ Clash

Nasarawa Police Rescue Six Children from Trafficking Syndicate

A brawl between one Yoruba man identified as Abbey and two Hausa traders at Oluwole Market in Ogba, Ojodu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State has resulted in one fatality.

On Friday morning, Yoruba and Hausa men clashed, grounding commercial activities in Oluwole Market.

It was learnt that the clash ensued late on Thursday night when Abbey settled a brawl between two Hausa men and was allegedly stabbed by an unidentified man. He fell into a pool of blood.

An eyewitness said Abbey was bleeding profusely before he died, sparking a reprisal between Yoruba and Hausa in the area.

The reprisal attack led to the destruction of food items including peppers, and onions sold by Hausa traders.

Police vans were seen patrolling the market around 9:00 am to forestall the breakdown of law and order and restore normalcy.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said in an sms: “Sorry, I can’t take this call right now,” in response to inquiries.
