JUST IN: NCC to Bar Glo Subscribers from Calling MTN Numbers

Subscribers of Globacom (Glo) may be unable to call MTN lines soon after the failure to settle interconnect charges, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has disclosed.

This was made known by the NCC Director of the Public Affairs Department, Reuben Muoka, on Monday.

The regulatory authority for the telecommunications industry in Nigeria stated that it issued partial approval for the disconnection of the Michael Adenuga-led Globacom from MTN.

“Globacom was notified of the application made by MTN and was given the opportunity to comment and state its case,” the statement partly read.

“The Commission, having examined the application and circumstances surrounding the indebtedness, determined that Globacom does not have sufficient or justifiable reason for non-payment of the interconnect charges.”

According to the NCC, after the 10-day expiration from the date of the notification, “subscribers of Globacom will no longer be able to make calls to MTN but will be able to receive calls.”

“The partial disconnection, however, will allow in-bound calls to the Globacom network.” It added.
