Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief, over the demise of the paramount ruler of Asaba, the Delta state capital, His Royal Majesty, Obi Joseph Chike Edozien – Asagba of Asaba who passed away on Wednesday, February 7.
The 13th Asagba of Asaba, recently commenced preparations to mark his 100th birthday anniversary.
In a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday, February 8, Tinubu extolled the impactful life of the late ruler and eminent professor of medicine, acknowledging his promotion of peaceful co-existence among Nigerians and unmatched role in forging partnerships across divides.
“His Majesty lived a full life defined by the loftiest ideals of peace, unity, patriotism, honesty, and dignity. This is a sad loss, coming at a time when Nigeria needs more peace-builders and bridge-builders,” the president said.
Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed monarch and enjoined the Royal Family and all those who mourn this gaping loss to take solace in the sterling legacies of His Royal Majesty.
