JUST IN: Rivers Commissioner Adangor Resigns Over Fubara Cabinet Reshuffle

Governor Fubara (News Central TV)

Zacchaeus Adangor rejected his redeployment and resigned from the Rivers State Executive Council following a cabinet reshuffle by Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Tuesday.

Adangor’s rejection was expressed in a letter to the Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo on Wednesday, April 24.

The redeployment was part of changes made by Fubara, which also affected the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu.

In the official letter, Adangor cited interference with his role as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice by Fubara as a reason for his decision to resign.

He mentioned directives issued by Fubara not to engage in legal proceedings against the government, which has prompted his unwillingness to serve in any capacity under the Fubara administration.

His words:

Rivers State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Zacchaeus Adangor

“I want to state for the records that I am no longer willing to continue to serve in the administration of His Excellency, Sir. Siminalayi Fubara in any capacity whatsoever.

“It is important to mention that the Governor of Rivers State in the past couple of weeks willfully interfered with the performance of my duties as the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice by directing me not to defend, oppose, or appear in suits instituted against the Attorney-General and the state government by individuals admittedly hired and sponsored by the government of rivers state.

“Having served the government and good people of Rivers State dutifully, as a member of the Rivers State executive council for five years, it has become imperative for me to quit the administration in order to preserve my reputation.

“I wish the administration of His Excellency well.”

News Central reports that Fubara had through the office of the SSG redeployed Adangor to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office) and the commissioner for finance, Isaac Kamalu, to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment on Tuesday, April 23.

The reshuffling comes amidst heightened political tensions in the state.
