Juventus bounced back into Serie A’s top four on Monday with a crucial 2-0 victory over Verona, easing growing fan discontent after a difficult run of results.

Khephren Thuram opened the scoring with a fine first-time finish in the 72nd minute, before Teun Koopmeiners sealed the win with a late strike, keeping Juve’s hopes of a Champions League spot alive.

The win lifted Juventus two points above Lazio, who had briefly entered the top four after their win against AC Milan on Sunday. Juventus will now turn their focus to next week’s clash with third-placed Atalanta, where only three points separate the two sides.

Despite dominating the match, Juventus faced protests from their fans, who had booed the team off at half-time following a disappointing midweek exit from the Italian Cup against lowly Empoli. Coach Thiago Motta, under pressure after replacing Massimiliano Allegri, expressed relief and satisfaction with the performance.

Juventus faced an early scare when Verona’s Toma Suslov fired a powerful shot that was ruled offside, allowing the home side to take control. Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo was key in keeping the scoreline modest, as Juventus had numerous chances to increase their lead.

Koopmeiners’ late goal marked only his third of the season, giving Juventus a more comfortable win as they continue their push for a top-four finish in Serie A.
