Following the Kaduna State House of Assembly‘s decision to investigate the financial dealings and contractual liabilities of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s immediate administration, the House’s ad hoc committee has begun fact-finding clarification sessions.
During Tuesday’s closed-door meeting at the House of Assembly complex, the committee held detailed discussions with several key former and current government officials, particularly those who served under the El-Rufai administration from May 29, 2015 to May 29, 2023.
Among those invited so far include the former Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, Manzo Maigari; former Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Thomas Gyang; Commissioner and Administrator of Zaria Metropolitan Authority, Balaraba Aliyu; present Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Muktar Ahmed, amongst others.
The Chairman of the committee and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Henry Danjuma, told reporters after the session that it provided valuable insights into various aspects of government operations, with the principal actors shedding light on critical areas for scrutiny and improvement.
He assured the people of the state that the committee is committed to transparency in its investigations.
The adhoc committee was set up to conduct a comprehensive fact-finding into financial dealings, the status of executed contracts, loans, grants and project implemented from 2015 to 2023 has commenced its clarification session.
