The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Uba Sani has commended the gallant effort of the troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) after rescuing 25 kidnapped victims and eliminated three bandits during a military offensive in Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The operation, named Golden Peace, was launched early on Tuesday to dismantle criminal groups causing insecurity in the area.
According to intelligence sources, the operation began around 6:00 a.m., targeting key bandit hideouts in villages such as Ruwan Sanye, Randa, Rafin Gora, Libere Gari, and Libere Makaranta.
Troops faced resistance at Randa Village, where a gunfight broke out. Three bandits were neutralised during the encounter, while several others fled, some likely injured.
The troops’ efforts forced the bandits to abandon their captives, leading to the successful rescue of 25 hostages.
Pursuing the fleeing criminals, soldiers discovered traces of their movements and recovered various items, including roasted chicken, cigarettes, tramadol, energy drinks, and clothing.
In the course of the operation, the troops also uncovered a makeshift clinic used by the bandits to treat their injured members. The facility was destroyed to deny the criminals access to medical care.
