The Kaduna State Police Command has begun enforcing the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for all motor vehicles, effective from February 1, 2025.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed that this enforcement follows the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
According to Hassan, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, ordered full enforcement of the policy starting from February 1, 2025.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, gave a directive for a full enforcement of the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for motor vehicles from today, February 1, 2025,” Hassan said.

The policy aims to ensure that all vehicles have the necessary third-party insurance, which protects road users in the event of accidents involving insured vehicles.
Hassan stressed the importance of enforcement in safeguarding road users and reducing accident risks.
He urged all vehicle owners and motorists to make sure they have valid Third-Party Insurance. Those found without the required coverage will face penalties as set out by the law.
“We want to ensure that all vehicle owners and motorists are protected in case of an accident. The Third-Party Insurance Policy is mandatory, and we will ensure that everyone complies with it,” he hinted.
The police spokesperson also advised vehicle owners to obtain insurance from accredited companies to avoid penalties and ensure they are fully covered in case of an accident.
