The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has reported generating N14.16 billion in internally generated revenue (IGR) during the first two months of 2025.
This disclosure follows claims suggesting a decline in revenue collection under Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
The Head of Corporate Communications at KADIRS, Zakari Muhammad, clarified in a statement issued on Friday, March 21, 2025, in Kaduna that the state collected N7.47 billion in January and N6.69 billion in February, demonstrating continued efficiency in revenue management.

Muhammad highlighted significant revenue growth over the past two years, noting that Kaduna State generated N62.48 billion in 2023 and N71 billion in 2024, reinforcing its position as northern Nigeria’s top-performing state in IGR.
He attributed this success to innovative reforms, including the PAYKADUNA integrated tax administration portal, enhanced taxpayer engagement, and financial inclusion initiatives.
Automated revenue collection ensures transparency, with payments made directly to the state’s Treasury Single Account (TSA), preventing direct handling by KADIRS staff.
Addressing speculation regarding the former Executive Chairman’s exit, Muhammad clarified that his tenure ended as prescribed by law.
He dismissed allegations of misconduct, reiterating KADIRS’ autonomy and commitment to revenue mobilisation.
He reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to transparency, stating that IGR funds serve as collection accounts only, with no unauthorised disbursements permitted.
