According to reports, Southampton have agreed to pay a club record £22 million for Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana. The 20-year-old Ghana international, who typically plays on the left flank, has also been linked with a transfer to Saints’ relegation rivals Everton.
He is now undergoing a medical in France before transferring to Southampton in a deal for up to £24.6 million. The amount is more than the £20 million Saints spent to get Danny Ings from Liverpool in 2019.
Kamaldeen Sulemana joined Rennes from Nordsjaelland in 2021 and has appeared in 20 games this season, scoring once and assisting twice.
He has 15 caps for Ghana, including three appearances in the World Cup in Qatar. During the tournament, Sulemana was observed running at 35.7kph (22.2mph), the fastest pace of any participant.
