Kamaru “Nigerian Nightmare” Usman in the early hours of Sunday knocked out his UFC Welterweight title contender, Jorge Masvidal.
The match had barely started when the Nigerian, now on his 14th straight win in UFC, landed a heavy blow that sent his opponent sprawling as he lost balance. Usman continued his total dominance by landing several blows on Masvidal, condemning the American to just his second loss via knockout, and the first since 2008.
Usman has now won 19 of his 20 UFC fights and is rated by many as the best pound-for-pounder UFC fighter at the moment.
Fans, former fighters and foes have rained plaudits on the Nigerian after the devastation inflicted on Masvidal who is rated as one of the best in the division.
Usman is one of three Africans who hold the UFC belt with his compatriot Israel Adesanya, and Cameroon’s Francis Ngannou holding the middleweight and heavyweight belts respectively.
