Kane Makes Bundesliga History in Bayern’s Rout of Bremen

Harry Kane made history by becoming the leading English goal scorer in Bundesliga history after scoring his 41st league goal for Bayern Munich in their 5-0 victory against Werder Bremen.

Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala scored before the break to give Bayern Munich a two-goal advantage before Kane found the back of the net from the edge of the box to move ahead of Jadon Sancho, who scored 40 Bundesliga goals for Borussia Dortmund.

Former Crystal Palace winger Olise scored his second goal of the match three minutes after the hour mark, followed by Serge Gnabry wrapping up the scoring with a well-placed finish.

The outcome ensured that Vincent Kompany’s team maintained their position at the top of the Bundesliga with four victories in four matches.

Kane scored his 50th, 51st, 52nd, and 53rd Bayern Munich goals in his 50th appearance for the club against Dinamo Zagreb in what has been a remarkable week for the 31-year-old.

He set the record for the top English scorer in Champions League or European Cup history on Tuesday by scoring four goals in Bayern’s 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb. He holds the title of the top English scorer in the Bundesliga.

To reach 40 Bundesliga goals, Sancho played 118 matches across two spells at Dortmund, while Kane achieved this feat in just 36 matches.

Sancho only broke the previous record last season, which was held by Tony Woodcock with 39 goals in 131 games for Cologne in the 1980s.
