Kane’s Brace Lifts Bayern Over Union, Frankfurt Thrashes Bochum

Harry Kane scored two goals and provided an assist as Bayern Munich secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Union Berlin at home on Saturday, putting them three points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

The England captain opened the scoring with a penalty in the 15th minute after Union’s Benedict Hollerbach fouled Michael Olise just outside the box. Just before halftime, Kane turned provider, setting up Kingsley Coman, who fired the ball past Union goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow to double the lead.

Kane completed his brace shortly after the break, pouncing on a loose ball to score his second goal, just inches ahead of teammate Jamal Musiala.

Later on Saturday, RB Leipzig will have the opportunity to level points with Bayern as they visit struggling Borussia Dortmund.

Kane’s two goals propelled him ahead in the Bundesliga scoring race, bringing his tally to 11 for the season, surpassing Omar Marmoush, who netted one goal and assisted two in Eintracht Frankfurt’s stunning 7-2 victory over Bochum.

In that match, Frankfurt showcased their attacking prowess with Hugo Ekitike scoring a brace and Marmoush contributing significantly alongside Ansgar Knauff, Nathaniel Brown, Mahmoud Dahoud, and Can Uzun, all getting on the scoresheet.

Despite Bochum scoring twice, through Dani de Wit and Philipp Hofmann, they were thoroughly outclassed and now sit at the bottom of the table with just one point from nine games. This result marked a dismal start to their season.

Meanwhile, Kiel celebrated their first-ever top-flight victory, beating Heidenheim 1-0 thanks to a goal from Patrick Erras, moving three points clear of Bochum. St Pauli also secured a crucial 2-0 win against Hoffenheim with goals from Oladapo Afolayan and Andreas Albers, placing them just above the relegation zone on eight points.

In other Bundesliga action, Wolfsburg played out a 1-1 draw at home against Augsburg.
