The dethroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has reportedly sent out a circular inviting all the district heads to participate in the upcoming traditional Sallah Durbar in the state.
Bayero still occupies the second Emir’s palace located in Nassarawa local government area, few meters away from the Kano State Government House.
Traditionally, it is the reigning Emir who leads the muslim festivals in the state as the custodian of the Emirate’s traditions and culture.
This development is likely to further heighten tension enveloping the state over the current emirship tussle on who has the right to lead the traditional Sallah festivals, between the deposed Emir Bayero, and the reinstated Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Kano State Government has however, continued to expressed concern over the occupation of the second palace by the deposed Emir, saying that, Bayero’s continued occupation of the palace poses a security risk.
The Deputy Governor of the State Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, appealed to President Tinubu and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu to investigate the happenings in Kano and evacuate the dethroned Emir from his current residence “as he is constituting security threat in the state “
Bayero’s move is seen by many, as a move to test his support and loyalty from the general public especially, the district heads, majority of whom have already switched sides with the reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
