The commercial hub of Northern Nigeria, Kano State, is poised for immediate and extensive development across various sectors, according to the State Governor, Abba Yusuf. The commitment was made as a mammoth crowd of supporters warmly welcomed him and his entourage to celebrate his victory at the Supreme Court.
Addressing the people, Governor Yusuf pledged to combat drug abuse and trafficking among the youth and tackle thuggery within the state. Expressing gratitude to the Almighty and the people of Kano State, he vowed to recover stolen funds from corrupt officials and embark on initiatives to revive the economy and industrial sector, generating job opportunities for the unemployed youth.
Deputy Governor Abdussalam Gwarzo assured the public that the governor is dedicated to sustaining all local and international scholarship schemes for students in the state. He emphasised the continuity of mass wedding programmes and various developmental initiatives.
Thousands of Kano residents gathered at the popular Mahaha field to welcome Governor Abba Yusuf, whom they hailed as the people’s choice after the Supreme Court judgment. The governor’s arrival, marked by a long convoy from Kaduna, drew joyous crowds dressed in the distinctive red and white Kwankwasiya regalia.
The journey from within Kano city to the Mahaha field took over six hours, reflecting the enthusiastic support for Governor Yusuf. Supporters expressed delight with the Supreme Court judgement and encouraged him to persist in implementing his development policies and programmes.
The celebration showcased the widespread endorsement of Governor Yusuf’s leadership and the anticipation of positive transformations in Kano State.
