American rapper, record producer, singer, and fashion designer Kanye West recently announced a new release of Yeezy out on December 15. This will be his first product launch after splitting from the German athletic apparel and footwear corporation, Adidas. Following what seemed to be an anti-Semitic remark made by Kanye in early October 2022, Adidas axed its partnership with Ye and his brand.
Coined from his name Kanye, Yeezy is derived from Jesus. Ye began using the nickname to position himself as a ‘God’ of rap and in 2009, he began the footwear and clothing label. His relationship with Adidas began in November 2013 after West said he severed his deal with Nike because the company refused to pay him royalties on Yeezy sales. West appeared to break the news of his new deal with Adidas on a New York City radio station.
This new release is expected to make rave or flop as fans, fashion favourites, and critics preview his latest drop being a Yeezy sock called YZY POD. Ye, on December 14, announced Russian designer, Gosha Rubchinskiy as the new Head of Design at YEEZY.
