Multi-award-winning English actress, Kate Winslet has set a new record while filming for Avatar 2. The 47 year old revealed that she trained and learned how to free dive ahead of the film, which prepared her for the record-breaking underwater breath hold of seven minutes and 15 seconds. She has officially beat previous record-holder Hollywood actor, Tom Cruise who had six minutes while filming “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” in 2015.

Kate winslet joined the new cast of the epic science fiction film directed by James Cameron along side actors Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana amongst others. Avatar 2: the way of water dropped in theaters across the globe on Friday, 16th and has already topped America’s box office with an estimated $134 million opening. Although it’s a bit behind expectations some have blamed it on its over 3hours length. Globally it’s hit $435M and as it stands Avatar 2 puts Disney very close to the $4 billion mark worldwide for the year.

Avatar: The Way of Water was nominated for five Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. It was named one of the ten best films of 2022 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute
