The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued 11 victims, including nine females and two males, along the Danmusa-Mara Dangeza village road in the Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 9, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, highlighted the operation as a major achievement in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry in Katsina State.

DSP Sadiq recounted that on June 8, 2025, at approximately 10:30 pm, a joint security team—including personnel from the police, military, DSS, Operation Sharan Daji, Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and vigilantes—was on routine patrol when they encountered armed bandits attempting to escape with victims abducted from various locations in the state.

A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to abandon their captives and flee due to the superior tactics and firepower of the security team. All 11 victims were successfully rescued unharmed.

As investigations continue to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent future incidents, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their bravery and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling the menace of kidnapping in collaboration with other security agencies.

CP Shehu also called on the public to support security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station or using the Command’s emergency contact numbers.

He emphasised that community cooperation is crucial in enhancing the effectiveness of security operations across the state.
