The Katsina State Police Command rescued 10 kidnapped victims following an attack by armed bandits on a commercial vehicle in Jibia Local Government Area.
According to Police Spokesman ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the bandits ambushed the vehicle at Kwanar Makera on December 24, shooting sporadically in an attempt to abduct the occupants.
The Divisional Police Officer in Jibia swiftly led a team to the scene, engaging the assailants in a gunfight. All 10 victims were freed, but four sustained gunshot wounds and were hospitalised. Tragically, two succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
The Katsina Police Commissioner, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the officers for their bravery and urged the public to report any suspicious activity to authorities promptly. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
