Actor-turned-politician, Kenneth Okonkwo has been described as a mole after exiting the Labour Party (LP). Kenneth Okonkwo recently criticised the party’s flag bearer, Peter Obi, saying that he no longer believes the presidential candidate can lead a party capable of winning elections.
He mentioned that Peter Obi cannot secure a mandate even if elected by the people.
He further explained that recent events within the party have inspired him to take a new direction in his political journey.
Obiora Ifoh, LP’s National Publicity Secretary, released an official statement saying that the party had expected Okonkwo’s resignation.
Okonkwo’s criticism of Obi was labelled as unfortunate and attention-seeking.
“Kenneth Okonkwo’s resignation from the Labour Party didn’t come to us as a surprise. We also think that his attack on the party’s leader, Peter Obi, is rather unfortunate.
“However, we will continue not to dignify him with any response, as we understand that his attention-craving attitude knows no bounds,” he said.
The LP spokesperson said the party remained committed to supporting Obi as its 2027 presidential candidate.
