Kenya 2022: Security Operatives Invade DP Ruto’s Offices in Nairobi (News Central TV)

Kenyan police have invaded and searched the office premises in the nation’s capital Nairobi that are allegedly connected to William Ruto, the vice president of the country and one of the leading contenders for next month’s elections.

Two computers and two servers were seized, according to a police official.

The newcomers were advised by a staff member at the vice president’s campaign secretariat that they wouldn’t want to be pulled to “mere side shows and distractions.”

The raid takes place while hostilities between the nation’s security forces and its Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission are escalating (IEBC).

The decision to detain three foreign nationals hired to work on the nation’s electronic voting system was sharply criticised over the weekend by the commission’s head.

The IEBC made claims, which the police rejected, claiming there was no proof the commission had hired the three or that they worked for the company it had hired.

Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga are considered as having a close battle for the presidency.

Meanwhile, Raila Odinga’s Campaign Spokesperson Prof Makau Mutua stated that the Azimio flag-bearer will not attend the Presidential Debate.

In a press statement released on Sunday, July 24, Mutua explained that the demand by UDA candidate William Ruto to have certain issues left out deviated from the purpose of the national debate

The choice has elicited conflicting reactions. Ruto’s allies mock Odinga, saying he sensed defeat.

On July 22, Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed disclosed that if the debate is poorly organised, Azimio may send Embakasi East member Babu Owino to challenge Ruto.
