A bishop in Mbita, Homa Bay, Kenya on Sunday took his congregation to a beach where a human skull was found and is now on the run.
Charles Ododo stated that God had given him the assignment of finding a human skull.
At Luanda Nyamasare beach in Kasgunga East Sub Location, the incident happened. He informed his congregation that he got a vision from God during a night vigil that he would discover a human skull in the sea.
The bishop had been invited to attend Easter services at a church in Gembe West Location on Saturday, according to a police complaint.
He claimed to have encountered a vision while he was at the church during the prayers. He stated that during the vision, God showed him a human skull that was lying on the lake’s shore.
On Sunday morning, his congregation decided to go to the beach with him. In order to get the skull, he lured them into the water. The group then travelled to the shore, where they lit the skull on fire.
Francis Kasuku, who is the assistant chief of the Kasgunga East Sub-location, says that people started talking about the issue online, which got people’s attention.
“It went viral in the community. I was worried as to why Christians were doing this,” he said.
Police assistance was required from Mr. Kasuku.
He contacted them so they could ask the pastor and the people in his congregation why they were burning the skull.
But the bishop had vanished by the time the officers showed up. The search for him was fruitless. Mr. Kasuku, however, spoke with witnesses who said that the bishop was responsible for the strange ritual.
He was told that when the commotion started, a pastor from a nearby church had invited the bishop to offer Easter prayers.
Police transported the skull to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital as part of the inquiry, where they will determine whether or not it is human.
In anticipation of forensic examination, it was kept at the mortuary. No one has been reported missing from his region, according to Mr. Kasuku.
