Reports indicate that a Wajir court has sentenced two men to 50 years imprisonment and an additional Ksh.63 million fine for drug trafficking.
On April 4, 2021, security operatives detained Mohammed Oloo and Abraham Hassan in Athibool, Wajir county, for drug trafficking including transporting 700kgs of marijuana worth Ksh.21 million to Nairobi.
The duo had concealed the consignment in cement bags, according to a report released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday.
“The lorry ferrying the consignment had been divided into compartments at the top, where the drug disguised as bags of cement was carefully concealed,” the DCI said.
Hassan, who skipped the court session, was also given an arrest warrant by Senior Resident Magistrate Mugendi Nyagah. His bond of Ksh.1 million was also revoked.
Meanwhile, the truck’s owner has been given 14 days to explain himself as to why the vehicle should not be forfeited to the government.
