The Kenya Lionesses have arrived in Chile in for the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series that will take place in Santiago from August 12–14.
The Lionesses are in Pool “D” with continental rivals South Africa, China, the 2014 Asian Games champion, and Chile, the bronze medalists from the 2019 South American Championship.
Prior to taking on the defending African champions South Africa on August 13, Kenya will commence their campaign against China.
Dennis Mwanja, the Kenya Lionesses’ head coach, selected 12 seasoned players for his team. Following the male team’s elimination from the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, which compelled them to turn their attention to the HSBC World Sevens Series, Mwanza is sure that they will put up a strong performance against the other three sides in their group.
As the team’s captain, he chose Judith Auma. Mwanja stated they were rebuilding the team and added that he had spotted talent in the players chosen and was prepared to start up where his predecessors had left off.
